Talented Engineering Lead wanted!

We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious engineer (on payroll) to lead the technology function at levvr and spearhead the development of our class leading platform.

You will be responsible for encouraging a collaborative work environment, ensuring technical excellence, and facilitating continuous improvement. This role will drive the delivery of the new product, focusing on rapid iteration and low cost of learning but also on stability and scalability as our client base grows. 

You’ll have a small team of engineers working with you, as well as an exceptional product design, product management, and commercial team.

What will you be doing?

  • You’ll know that when building new products in competitive markets, speed is the name of the game. You’ll be responsible for driving faster delivery, while ensuring for a stable, resilient and scalable platform. We’ll expect you to drive speed through your own coding skill, management and development of your team, crafting the technical strategy, and making smart trade offs in implementation.
  • You’ll primarily be hands on, spend > 60% of your time developing, which could be across backend, frontend, and devops work.
  • You will also manage and mentor our small team of engineers. Managers here put their reports first, prioritising the learning and development of their team. We’ll also expect you to inspire the team to improve through your example of dedication, hard work, and experience. 
  • You’ll drive our technical strategy, thinking about how we can leverage infra, architecture, integrations, tooling, and the team, to move faster.
  • You’ll be responsible for the trust and respect stakeholders feel towards technology here. We’ll look to you to define and measure success for your team.
  • You’ll work closely with the Product team to define iterations of the product that allow your team to ship as regularly as possible, whilst still delivering value to the user.
  • You’ll constantly be thinking of ways to move faster and improve. You’ll read books, attend conferences, and meet with external mentors from your network to discuss critical decisions you need to make at work. 

You're the innovator we need, when:

    5+ years experience as a software engineer, the majority of which building and scaling new products

    Lead, or been part of, a team that has successfully built and shipped a software product in a technical, competitive, B2B context

    An exceptional individual contributor, who is also willing to take on line management and stakeholder management responsibility

    Proven ability to deliver in the fastest-paced environments

    Able to make difficult trade-offs between moving fast and accumulating tech-debt

    Thorough knowledge of software development best practices and common design patterns: will add to our culture and ways of working

    Highly independent, with a deep drive to learn and improve. Understands that learning sometimes means getting out of the building.

    Some experience with line managing or mentoring junior developers
